Bombarda Podcast
After difficult times during the pandemic, Bombarda, Porto's Art District community, came together again to favour different projects, fostering innovation and networking in a frankly and continually creative territory.
BOMBARDA is a podcast dedicated to everyday topics in the Miguel Bombarda neighbourhood in Porto. Made by and for residents of this territory - whether residents or entrepreneurs - this space exists to record and amplify reflections and discussions around the local development of the well-known "Art District" in Porto, whether these are cultural issues, social, environmental, urbanistic or economic.
The first pilot series of this podcast focuses on the "Bombarda Digital" project. This initiative brings together agents from the commercial ecosystem of the Miguel Bombarda neighbourhood around themes related to the digital extension of their businesses. This was one of the consultation activities to prepare a bid for the call for the Development of Projects within the scope of the Digital Commercial Neighbourhood’s of the Portuguese Covid Relief Programme (PRR). This bid is led by the Porto's Municipality in collaboration with the Porto Association Digital and the Quarteirão Criativo Association.
In the first episode, we talked about online sales. Our guests were Mané Pupo from Rosa Malva, Susana Beirão from Loja, and Patrícia Sousa from Early Made, Rosa Et Al and Early.
The second episode focused on the added value of Creative Industries in a neighbourhood's physical and digital media. We discussed the potential effects of the intersection of technology and art in favour of physical and online commerce and the future media that may interest Bombarda. The role of street art, architecture / interactive and relational design, and the contribution of performance and events in activating a commercial territory were discussed. The guests were André Ramalho from Circus Network and Pedro Galego from Mecha Studio.
In the third and final episode of the Podcast, the evolution of the relationship between physical stores and online presence was one of the central themes. This episode, where we asked, "What is the future of physical stores?" set the tone for a conversation about the strengths of face-to-face sales, new consumer experiences, the experience economy and how we can prepare physical stores for a digital future. Our guests were Gonçalo Cruz from Platforme, Virgínia França from Loja Crú and Tânia Santos from Cru Creative Hub.
You can listen to all three episodes on Spotify (in Portuguese) or your favourite podcast platform (searching for Bombarda).
