In our blog, we tell stories about what we’re up to at the studio, our clients and the projects we are involved in.
Here you can find complete case studies, photo reports or simply accounts of the beautiful things made by the creatives we work with.
In the Studio: Os Casares and Espacio Vilaseco
It was the last days of summer, which in parts of the north-west of the peninsula already feel like autumn, when we finally visited Os Casares, an incredible space in Ribeira Sacra, in the heart of neighbouring Galicia.
The Casares project was conceived by Lola Vilaseco, the owner of what was once her family’s cattle farm and is now an important artistic and cultural centre with a strong community focus, seeking to strike a balance between rural and urban life, art, craft and agroecology, themes that are also central to what we do here at Saber Fazer and Barbot Bernardo.
In the studio: Back at Aveiro’s Secret Cinema
We first met the musician and producer Hugo Branco (AKA Fulano47), the mastermind behind this incredible project, a couple of years ago, when he commissioned us with the task of designing a communication strategy for all the facets of this project honouring the Branco family legacy and build a strong visual identity for their Break in Case of Emergency project (which you can see in this post).
In the studio: Ricardo Gil
It was early Autumn, and Jacquie and I spent a few days with Ricardo and his business partner Carol defining the studio strategy. By then, we had the opportunity to photograph the work in the big loom, handbuilt by Ricardo himself. It is so big that we almost couldn't use the title "in the studio" due to the lack of space inside.
In the studio: Ana Rita de Albuquerque
Our visit to Ana Rita de Albuquerque's studio in Central Portugal was long due. Finally, it happened at the beginning of a hot August after a hectic period. It was work but tasted like a deserved vacation that included long hikes and river swimming. Ana Rita is a regular on the Saber Fazer workshops calendar. Our collaboration and friendship are getting stronger every year.
In the studio: Sérgio Lemos, Darga Crafts
Sérgio Lemos invited me to visit his studio shortly after we started a collaboration with his brand, Darga Crafts. So I pedalled from Matosinhos, where I was living by then, to one of Porto's busiest roads, where he lives. Being there, still trying to recover my breath after an intense ride, I was far from imagining what I would find behind the tall gate. One of the most relaxing places I've been in Porto. It is a small building in the backyard of a bigger family house, half studio, half apartment.
